It is 66 days to go until the London Marathon and our marathon team have well and truly begun training and fundraising. We have been lucky enough to get to know some of the members of our team.
Imogen, a staff member, is running the London Marathon for St Michael’s. Imogen came to visit us in head office with some delicious cakes and biscuits as part of her fundraising.
Imogen has never run a full marathon before but has completed a couple half marathons. Imogen explained “last year after running the Oxford half marathon I felt as though I could have kept going so I decided I would push myself to do the full marathon this year”. Imogen said “I’m really excited and am looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere on the day”. Although she hates training in the dark she is determined to keep at it and get up for those early morning runs.
Luis came into our head office because he wanted to find out as much information as possible about the charity he is running and fundraising for. Luis is a father himself and is very passionate about our work, he said “I think the work you are doing here is great and really important”.
Luis works locally as a tennis coach and is hoping to organise a tennis tournament before the Marathon as part of his fundraising. Although he plays tennis Luis explained “I haven’t done any running like this before” but that he started his training early in preparation for the day.
Seany (pictured) is a long term supporter and veteran marathon runner for St Michael’s Fellowship. Seany has been updating us on the progress of his training
"who needs toe nails anyway?.”
“New shoes don't stay fresh for long when a marathon is looming!”
