Meet our trustees

Sally Prentice – Chair 

  • Sally’s leadership roles include being the CEO of two large local charities, Carers Network and a Relate centre in south London. She has also worked for HM Treasury, The King’s Fund and Age UK London. Sally was a councillor in Lambeth for over 20 years.
  • As a Cabinet Member from 2006 to 2014, Sally held the portfolios for education and children’s services, environment, regeneration, and culture. Sally retired from politics in 2018.
  • She recently graduated with an MSc (Distinction) in Grantmaking, Philanthropy and Social Investment from the Centre for Charity Effectiveness, Bayes Business School at City, University of London.

Oretha Wofford – Vice Chair

  • Oretha is a qualified social worker with more than 25 years of experience in Children’s Service, having practiced in the UK and USA.
  • She is the Principal Social Worker for a local authority, responsible for improving the quality of social work practice.

Treasurer – We’re Recruiting!

    Annie Brough

    • Annie worked for Local Authority Housing Departments then the NHS where she managed primary and community health services in south east London. She has experience in multi agency work delivering services to children and young people excluded from mainstream services. She is now involved in these areas with local and national voluntary organisations.

    Juline Sinclair

    • A senior social worker, Juline has worked for local authorities in leading roles for child protection, probation, leaving care, children’s rights and safeguarding adult services.

    Val Wass OBE

    • Val is Emeritus Professor of Medical Education at Keele University. She worked in paediatric and adult nephrology, as a GP and in academic Primary Care.
    • She represents the Royal College of General Practitioners at the world organisation for GPs (WONCA) and chairs the General Medical Council Advisory Board on Assessment.
    • Val was awarded an OBE for services to Medical Education in 2015.

    Jasmine Assi

    • Jasmine has 18 years of experience in Financial Services, with her experience focusing on implementing organisational change.
    • She acts as a Governor for a Trust in West London, understanding safeguarding, acting as a ‘critical friend’ and driving fundraising activities.

    Yasmin Garcia Stirling 

    • Yasmin is undertaking a PHD in Project Management and Construction sponsored by Vercity Group Asset Management.
    • She was drawn to the work of St Michael’s as she was a young teenage, single mother.
    • Yasmin is keen to bring together her research and analytical skills with her lived experience.

    Jonathan Bannister 

    • Jonathan is our digital trustee. He is the founder of Make Happy, a creative facilitation and innovation consultancy.
    • Make Happy uses a range of creative problem-solving and facilitation techniques, including Lego Serious Play, Design Thinking and team building.
