Sessional family work with huge rewards

Sessional Family Work with huge rewards

We are looking for Sessional Family Assessment Workers who want to work alongside our expert teams.

You could be a student studying social care or a professional looking for part-time work to fit around your children or other life commitments.

The work we do can be tough and intensive, but it is very rewarding. We are looking for staff to support our three residential assessment houses and Contact Centre in Lambeth.

Will this suit you?

Maybe you have worked with disadvantaged families in the past, supported child development or worked with young people. Our Sessional Family Assessment Workers come from lots of different specialist backgrounds, just like our full-time staff.

Our houses also have their own areas of expertise; for example teenage mums, people with learning difficulties and mental health issues.

We have employed ex-social workers who still want to keep on helping with families but on a part time basis. Others could be students in their second and final years at University, looking to build on their experience.

When would you work?

It’s shift work and because our families often need support 24/7 there is sometimes overnight work or sleep-ins to make sure there’s always someone on hand to help.

Sometimes, sessions are planned months in advance to cover holidays or staff training, but often the work comes up at the last minute. It can be to cover any gaps because of illness or maybe because we have a family with high needs.

Why are our Sessional Workers important to our work?

By having our own bank of workers we are able to provide a better service to families, workers develop an understanding of the way we work and the expectations of the role.  Also as a charity we save money on high agency costs, money that can be used to support families.

What will you get out of it?

At the heart of what we do is treating all parents as individuals and with respect. We believe everyone has the capacity to change and we do our utmost to support parents to be the best parent they can possibly be.

You will work with other professionals with lots of experience and you will also get excellent support and training. We have an enviable reputation for producing work and reports of the highest standards. Making sure that everyone gets the support and guidance they need to excel professionally and to support our families is fundamental to maintaining our reputation.

How do I apply?

We recruit Sessional Workers all year round. The current round ended on June 29th 2021 but we will take applications any time and we carry out interviews three times a year.
